Devices for Heart Failure
Some patients with poor heart function may benefit from the insertion of a specialised pacemaker or cardioverter-defibrillator. These high-tech devices have three leads, one of which is positioned on the outer wall of the heart's major pumping chamber to improve the function of the heart. Symptoms that develop with poor heart function may improve after the implantation of one of these special devices. This procedure usually requires a two day hospital stay at Epworth Hospital.
